Aleppo Essence Soap - All Skin

Aleppo soap has been made the same way for two thousand years: olive oil and laurel berry oil, cold-processed, cured until the surface turns from green to the characteristic dark brown. Laurel berry oil comes from the bay laurel tree — grown in the Aleppo region of Syria, where the climate and soil produce an oil found nowhere else. Ours follows that same tradition. Some things don't need improving.

Fresh from curing, the bar carries a characteristic earthy, woody scent from the laurel berry oil — subtle, not sharp, nothing like commercial soap. The bar darkens on the outside as it ages, which is how you know it's the real thing. The lather is soft and conditioning. It suits faces as well as bodies equally well.

Laurel berry oil is naturally rich in gamma-linolenic acid and has been used for centuries for dry, irritated, and sensitive skin. Combined with Australian olive oil — which is high in oleic acid and deeply compatible with skin — the result is a bar that moisturises as it cleanses rather than stripping and compensating. Our Aleppo bars cure for more than six weeks before they are ready. The extended cure produces a harder, milder bar with a lower pH — gentler on skin and longer-lasting in use.

No palm oil. No synthetic fragrance. No modern shortcuts applied to an ancient formula. Handmade in small batches in Melbourne.

For dry, sensitive, or reactive skin that has simply had enough of being treated aggressively.

Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Laurus Nobilis Fruit (Laurel Berry) Oil, Water (Aqua), Sodium Hydroxide

Lather with water and apply gently to the face or body. Rinse well and pat skin dry. To make your soap last longer, keep it on a well-drained soap dish and let it dry between uses.
